Book Reviews

I love to read.  Here's where I'll post reviews of books related to fundraising, nonprofit management, leadership, or any other topic that I think relates to fundraising and the nonprofit world.  I hope you enjoy!

2015 Books:

Retention Fundraising: The New Art and Science of Keeping Your Donors for Life
Roger M. Craver
2014 Emerson & Church Publishers

Available from Amazon

Donor retention is an important idea for all nonprofit organizations to keep in mind.  In this book Mr. Craver makes a fantastic case as to why that is, and what a difference it can make for an organization.  He gives some excellent ideas that he encourages you to steal.  He's also got some great new ideas.

Quite a bit of the material in this book was not new to me.  However, it was a very good reminder of best practices and reinforcement of what I've been saying and doing.  I definitely appreciated the discussion of measuring what you are doing to evaluate what works and what doesn't.

Overall, I definitely recommend this book to all fundraising professionals, and really, to any nonprofit professional.  It's a great read that's easy to follow.  I haven't reviewed the online tools Mr. Craver has put together in conjunction with this book, but I'm definitely intrigued!
